Volunteer of The Quarter Honored

At the April Networking Lunch sponsored by the Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce, Nick Quinn of Nick Quinn Photography was named the first “Volunteer of the Quarter.” Selected by the staff of the Chamber, Nick was cited as someone who went above and beyond the call of duty. Diane Holland, President, noted, “Nick goes out of his way to make sure that we have photos from almost every event we sponsor. Not only does he take great photos; he prints them to a disk and then delivers them to us, sometimes in a matter of hours. We so appreciate his dedication to the Parkway Chamber.”
Nick admitted that he was surprised and a bit embarrassed, as he is usually the man behind the camera, not in front. Quinn received a certificate of appreciation and a cash gift from Chick-fil-A, the year-long sponsor of this award.
The MPCC holds its Networking Lunch on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Border’s Mexican Restaurant, 33418 Egypt Lane. Go to www.MagnoliaParkway CC.Org for registration details or membership information.

Teachers of the Quarter Honored
At the Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce monthly Networking Lunch two outstanding teachers were recognized as Teachers of the Quarter, a new distinction created this year to honor achievement in education. Both were named Teacher of the Year by the Magnolia School District just prior to the Chamber meeting.
Winners, announced by Chairman Ray Orr, were Elementary Teacher of the Year Stacey Smith who teaches 2nd grade at Magnolia Parkway Elementary
and Secondary Teacher of the Year Kathrina Martin who teaches Journalism at Magnolia High School. Mona Johnston is the Principal at Magnolia Parkway Elementary and Jeff Springer is the Magnolia High School Principal.
Approximately 70 attendees were on hand to congratulate the winners as Rosa Williams of Woodforest National Bank, the sponsor of the four Teacher of the Quarter awards, presented the honorees with a certificate of excellence and a cash award.
The sponsor of the May Networking Lunch was Visiting Angels, represented by Jennifer Box.
The MPCC holds its Networking Lunch on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Border’s Mexican Restaurant, 33418 Egypt Lane and Magnolia Parkway. SaRi’s Creations focuses on quality, not quantity. Family-owned and operated, they like to make their customers look good with an individualized personal logo on shirts, caps, or jackets. Items for embroidery may be purchased at SaRi’s or brought in by the customer. Personalization of towels or blankets for a wedding or baby gift is a popular process.

.jpg) Members of the Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce gathered to celebrate the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the new La Quinta Inn, 6930 Magnolia Parkway, on April 28, 2010. Hollye Selway, General Manager, shown with scissors, welcomed everyone with a Business After Hours and Open House. Standing next to her is Assistant Lisa Powers.
The Magnolia La Quinta Inn is open 24 hours a day and offers an indoor pool with a spa, free internet with WiFi, and a free extended continental breakfast featuring their signature Texas-shaped waffles. Also available are a fitness center and business meeting room. Located only three miles from Woodforest Golf Club, it is a convenient location for golfers, business people, and visitors to the area.  The Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting for MuRF Systems. Specializing in human resource consulting, employee training and development, attitude, personality, and skills assessments and testing are just a few of the activities of excellence offered by MuRF Systems. Services are offered as online and interactive activities or on site by qualified consultants and trainers.
